Walk & Reflection Anniversary Event
đź“… March 21, 2026
📍 Westminster City Park
Our Walk & Reflection event was held to honor Vaughn’s life, strength, and the lasting impact he continues to have on our community.
Participants gathered in a peaceful park setting surrounded by photos of Vaughn that celebrated his personality, joy, and resilience. Guests received orange cancer awareness ribbon pins along with “Strong Like Vaughn” bracelets as a way to carry his courage with them beyond the event.
Before beginning the walk, attendees were invited to write on notecards answering the prompt: “What are you walking for today?” These reflections were deeply personal and meaningful, with each person choosing to keep their card as a reminder of their intention and connection.
Along the walking path, reflection signs encouraged participants to think about Vaughn’s life, the people they love, and the ways grief and love can coexist. Midway through the walk, the group paused for a symbolic moment of unity by tying ribbons onto a tree, representing how love continues to be held, shared, and carried forward.
At the ribbon station, bells were also available for participants to ring in Vaughn’s honor. This gesture held special significance, recognizing the bell he never had the opportunity to ring at Children’s Hospital to mark the end of treatment. Together, the ringing created a powerful moment of remembrance, strength, and community support.
The event concluded with continued conversation, connection, and quiet reflection. The Walk & Reflection serves as a reminder that while loss changes our lives, love remains present and can bring people together in healing and purpose.
